Manchester Life Update: Planning approved for 199 homes for rent and four commercial units for retail, office, café or restaurant usage on Blossom Street in Ancoats.

Manchester Life Development Company is pleased to confirm planning approval for the proposed development on Blossom Street in Ancoats.

The site is located in the heart of the Ancoats Conservation Area and is the third Manchester Life rental scheme to receive approval. Blossom Street will provide well-located, high quality homes with comprehensive facilities, helping to fulfil Manchester’s demand for rental accommodation and supporting the emergence of Ancoats as a desirable residential neighbourhood within easy reach of the city centre’s employment, amenities and transport networks.

The currently derelict site will reintroduce active street frontages to four streets within Ancoats, with building heights and materials designed to be in keeping with the area. The development will provide:

  • 62 one bed apartments
  • 116 two bed apartments
  • 7 three bed apartments
  • 14 town houses with front doors on George Leigh Street
  • 4 commercial units located along Blossom Street providing floor space for retail, office or café / restaurant use.

Construction on the Blossom Street site is due to start in Autumn 2016, with apartments ready for rental by late 2018.
