Having completed my first three placements based in an office environment, my fourth placement with Carillion Construction is on site, providing me with another new experience which has already been incredibly beneficial to my development in the industry.
Working on a project and having the ability to be involved out on the field every day has been a real eye opener and has brought all of the information learned in the classroom and in previous placements to life.
The contractor I am currently placed with prioritises health and safety over and above everything else, which means I have been able to progressively increase my responsibilities in ensuring the site meets and exceeds the required health and safety standards.
Quality is also one of the critical factors for the contractor and I have taken on the role of carrying out daily quality checks on site, enhancing my skills and providing me with the knowledge to begin to assess if works are carried out correctly using the different methods of checking.Back to apprentices
